ACCESS INFORMATION

Physical Access

  • The performance takes place outdoors in a community garden and the ground is uneven in places, including clover grass and bark chippings. The ground conditions will vary with the weather conditions, too. Audience members will be standing or moving through the garden for the duration of the performance. Some seating will be made available for those less able to stand. There is a single step up from the terrace into the garden.

  • We’ll also have the option of a static viewing area in the middle of the garden that will have outdoor matting and ramp access (further details TBC when our garden is completed.)

  • BMSS has accessible toilet facilities, including a Changing Spaces facility on site.

  • There are six accessible parking spaces located in the lower car park that is accessed via the Springfield Heights entrance.

  • The performance involves wearing silent disco style headsets throughout - these are similar to large over-ear headphones. (Unless you are using audio description - see below.)

Audio Description

  • Audio description is available upon request for any of our performances, and we can accommodate up to 5 audio described spaces per show. (We’re limited by the amount of devices we have.)

  • If you’d like to avail of this, we recommend that you bring your own set of wired headphones (with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack), though we will have spares available if you need them. Please let us know in advance if you’d like to use one of the audio description devices so we can plan ahead and ensure there are enough for everyone. (E-mail: siobhan@offtherailsdance.com

Hearing Aids

  • Audience will be wearing over-ear headsets which deliver immersive audio during the performance. These headsets work with most hearing aids and cochlear implants, but we can’t guarantee that they will work with all of them.

BSL Interpretation

  • There will be a BSL-interpreted performance at 7:00pm on 14th August 2024. Please make yourself known to the FOH team when you arrive if you’d like to avail of this, so we can ensure you’re in the same audience group as the interpreter.

Carers & Assistants
